Pasadena Showcase 2022 - Art | Pamela Sandall Design

One of the areas we designed for this years showcase house was the Gallery. The landing of the home was an open space with not too much opportunity for furnishings be lots of walls to showcase art.

We engaged the loan of pieces from a local gallery here in Agoura Hills, REALArt Gallery. This little gallery has a great selection of modern and traditional paintings and the owner, Sylvia White was very happy to oblige our request by loaning us most of the pieces featured.

In keeping with our Classical Modern theme, we opted for a combination of art pieces that fit that description. I fell in love with the rich oil paintings of Artist Linda Schroeter I felt her rich color palette was perfect for this vintage Tudor home without being too old fashioned feeling!

We also loved the bold graphic art of Preschool teacher turned artist Sheila Daube. Her big canvases grace both the grand staircase and set the tone for the color palette for the show with Ophelia in the Gallery and God Sign on the huge wall of the staircase.

Since we were bringing in touches of red to showcase the Stained glass windows which are really art pieces on their own, we also loved the photographic art of the Red windows. This was a fun play both because of his subject matter AND the color was perfect!

The final art selections turned out to be the biggest surprise! My fabulous design assistant, Mario Ortego showed off his artistic chops when he offered to paint a piece for the show! Wow! His piece which named Guardian Angel was perfect for the premier spot in the entry. The moody colors with the hint of plum and the angel wings are in perfect unison with the entire space.

The owner of the showcase house is a surgeon and when Mario shared a reverse charcoal sketch he created, I knew it needed a place in the gallery as well.
